Hey Occulties,
People often want to know if some event is a “sign,” (the reality is if I cast the spells for the client, I generally get the signs, but they might have indicators of potential manifestation such as hearing via mutual friends that their ex is asking after them,) and when it comes to my work for others, or even them working on their own, they are more often dealing with confirmation bias, and projecting a “sign” where one does not exist. See, when I get any sort of indicators which may be viewed as signs, these come when I am observing and not searching or seeking after any sort of foreknowledge or outcome. I once almost had a client lose her mind on me when I said something like “inert-observation, free of any biased thought, is required to properly indicate when a sign has come, otherwise, generally hindsight and a great deal of experience help to create a better understanding and a gradual ability to better identify what is and isn’t just physics or coincidence, but the indicators of the magic folding into manifested form.” I wasn’t wrong, but she wanted something more like “Sure, client, I’ll give you a list of signs and stuff!”
Kids, those list of signs if you ever see one are not anything other than a ploy to sell you more stuff. Like…to some degree understanding how jar candles burn, and burning many of the same color from the same palette and same manufacturer, which you have personally blessed and dressed each…that will make it so you can read candle sign. I’ve burned 2 done up exactly the same for two different people and situations, and one burned clean and the other was slow and mildly sooty, and in that case I can assure you, the clean burning candle was a situation that manifested quickly, and the slower burning one required more effort and was slow to materialize. That said, I’ve had a “black burn” (a the chimney on the candle turns fully opaque black,) that did not represent anything more than my tired self adding too many herbs and oils. As I’d done a run of lights for that person (a several candles - 3 or more to be exact,) and the others didn’t burn black, I wasn’t concerned. BUT, clearly, in my case, I won’t practically pass out from fear and grief if I get a random black burn or sooty burn, and then be inconsolable for weeks as many beginners trying to learn to work for themselves too often are. I won’t freak out because the candle flickered, or another burned really quickly. I’m very aware of the burn time of everything I use, how herbs and each specific oil interacts on a level where I’d notice of it was “off” or unusual, and while I take into account a possible indication of how the manifestation may go, I do not decide something which may merely be a matter of physics is a HUGE SIGN.
But then I go on social media, and not only do I see “hey group, help think this spell I just did to death with me,” posts, complete with a full discussion of what they are attempting and images of something they have done hours before, (DO NOT SHARE UNMANIFESTED WORKINGS WITH ANYONE, and if you must, keep it to 1-3 people at most!) And the “signs” are that the candle flickered, or that they want everyone to try a Rorschach ink blot test with the drippings (that isn’t how that works, either.) Then then the newbies, the fluffies, the IRABO tribe (I Read A Book Once,) all chime in and basically think that person’s spell to death, but with like “all positive vibes, here.”
Ugh. I don’t know who needs to hear this today, but there’s a 19 out of 20, chance, if not closer to a 99 out of 100 chance that what you fear or hope is a sign is not any such thing.
Stop seeking signs. You project them where they do not exist.
Alrighty, I may be getting another article up in the same day, but maybe not. Keep your fingers crossed because the next one isn’t a lecture, haha.
